Private Lessons

As a teacher, I want all of my students to enjoy music and have fun learning.  I firmly believe in a student oriented approach to teaching and adjust my methods for each individual student.   My lessons consist of a balance between teaching flute fundamentals (tone, scales, technique, etc.), music theory, and flute repertoire.  My students and I work as a team to set goals and create a plan to achieve them; we work together to create musical success!

I have been teaching privately for over 10 years and I currently serve on the faculty of the Roberson School of Music.  I previously taught at the Music Academy of Eastern Carolina, was the Teaching Assistant at East Carolina University where I gave lessons to music minors and conducted the flute choir, and I hold teaching certification for K-12 music in New York State in addition to my undergraduate degree in music education. My teaching experiences encompass private lessons, music theory, coaching chamber music ensembles, and conducting large ensembles.  I welcome students of all ages and experience levels, I have taught students as young 7 and as old 70!
